Final Results Weekend

'The Gingerbread Lady' programme cover

Ballyshannon Drama Society wait with bated breath for the last sets of results of the All Ireland Amateur Drama Festival to come in. Ballyshannon are awaiting three sets of results this weekend: Strabane on Friday 28th of March, Glenamaddy and Mid-Ulster (Carrickmore) on Saturday 28th of March. The results of these festivals will determine whether or not ‘The Gingerbread Lady’ will proceed to the All Ireland Final in the Dean Crowe Theatre in May. Results will be posted online here as soon as they are known.

‘Gingerbread Lady’ in Strabane and Carrickmore

IMG_2124zipThis week sees the cast and crew of ‘The Gingerbread Lady’ make their final appearances on the All Ireland 3 Act Drama Festival circuit. They will be in The Alley Theatre, Strabane, on Tuesday night and The Patrician, Carrickmore, Co. Tyrone on Wednesday night.

Third Place in Shercock

‘The Gingerbread Lady’ came third in the Shercock Drama Festival, with a Most Promising Award for Sinead Luke as Polly Landau and two adjudicator’s awards, one for Lighting and one for Conor Beattie. This result continues the team’s successful run of being placed in every festival. The week ahead sees the production travelling to Strabane on Tuesday and Carrickmore on Wednesday, with results of the remaining three festivals (including Glenamaddy) due in by Saturday 28th March.

Four Roads to Glenamaddy…

IMG_2212zipFresh from a strong performance in Shercock on Tuesday night, cast and crew of ‘The Gingerbread Lady’ (whih usually number around 16 people) hit the road again today for the Glenamaddy Drama Festival.  The show begins at 8pm in the Community Hall. The adjudicator at the festival is Tom Byrne.

    Tonight’s Play: Yellow Moon present ‘Any Given Day’ 7.30pm (Open)

    any givben dayTonight’s production is ‘Any Given Day’ by Linda Mc Lean presented by Yellow Moon Theatre Group. The play centres around a vulnerable couple desperately trying to cope with the world around them and a fledgling romance that promises warmth to people left in the cold. But, as in real life, everything does not run smoothly, small decisions have devastating impacts on those least expecting it and the audience are left questioning their own responsibilities and attitudes. Curtain at 7.30 to facilitate the Awards Ceremony following the public adjudication.
