Ballyshannon Shatter Myth in Athlone
Report on Dr. Russell Boyce’s adjudication taken from dramafestival.ie: There’s a myth that Neil Simon’s plays don’t work on this side of the Atlantic. But All Ireland Drama Festival adjudicator Russell Boyce said it was nice to see how Ballyshannon Drama Society’s production of “The Gingerbread Lady” shattered that myth. He so much loved the detailed set constructed by the Ballyshannon crew that he asked the audience to think especially of those who had spent the winter months building the stage with its fireplace and recessed window, and sourcing furniture and props, including the piano and radiogram (which he told the younger members of the audience was the 1970s equivalent of the MP3 player). ‘Gingerbread Lady’ in Strabane and Carrickmore
This week sees the cast and crew of ‘The Gingerbread Lady’ make their final appearances on the All Ireland 3 Act Drama Festival circuit. They will be in The Alley Theatre, Strabane, on Tuesday night and The Patrician, Carrickmore, Co. Tyrone on Wednesday night.
Third Place in Shercock
‘The Gingerbread Lady’ came third in the Shercock Drama Festival, with a Most Promising Award for Sinead Luke as Polly Landau and two adjudicator’s awards, one for Lighting and one for Conor Beattie. This result continues the team’s successful run of being placed in every festival. The week ahead sees the production travelling to Strabane on Tuesday and Carrickmore on Wednesday, with results of the remaining three festivals (including Glenamaddy) due in by Saturday 28th March.
Four Roads to Glenamaddy…
Fresh from a strong performance in Shercock on Tuesday night, cast and crew of ‘The Gingerbread Lady’ (whih usually number around 16 people) hit the road again today for the Glenamaddy Drama Festival. The show begins at 8pm in the Community Hall. The adjudicator at the festival is Tom Byrne.

‘The Gingerbread Lady’ took First Place in Kiltyclogher, along with Top Points Overall, Best Supporting Actress for Sinead Luke, Best Actor for Richard Hurst and Best Actress for Rachel O’Connor!
‘Gingerbread’ Takes 3rd in Castleblaney
Congrats to cast and crew of ‘The Gingerbread Lady’ on taking 3rd in the Castleblaney Drama Festival and especially to Rachel O’Connor who won Best Actress for her role as Evelyn O’Meara!
