‘The Cripple of Inishmaan’

Synopsis
Set on a remote island off the West of Ireland in 1934. The Cripple of Inishmaan is
a strange comic tale in the great tradition of Irish storytelling. As word arrives on
Inishmaan that the Hollywood Director, Robert O’Flaherty is coming to the neigh-
bouring Island of Inishmore to film Man of Aran, the one person who wants to be
in the film more than anybody is young Cripple Billy, if only to break away from the
bitter tedium of his daily life. Setting : Set on Inishmaan (Aran Islands) 1934.

History of the Group
Glenamaddy Players will this year celebrate their 50th anniversary which is a fantastic
achievement for the group. Along with a team of talented actors and a skilled and
dedicated crew, the group have enjoyed huge success over the years. They have
qualified for the All Ireland Three Act Confined Finals on many occasions, the most
recent in 2019 with ‘Rabbit Hole’, by David Lindsay Abaire which finished in second
place. They are once again really looking forward to taking part at the Allireland Finals.
