“Chronicles of Long Kesh” tells the story of the prison – also known as The Maze – from its opening in August 1971 to its closure in July 2000. The story concentrates not on the big politics of the day or those who became well known as a result of their time in prison, but on the experiences of ordinary prisoners, prison officers and their families. Audiences will be confronted with a rich assortment of republicans, loyalists, prison officers, chancers, escapers, wives, Smokey Robinson-imitators and hypochondriacs! Whilst the play deals with major developments such as the 1974 burning of Long Kesh, the hunger-strikes, the big escape, etc., it also contains its fair share of hilarity, black humour and plenty of Motown songs! Six actors play all the parts. Please Note: Some scenes may not be suitable for children.

Tonight’s Festival Show: ‘The Devil’s Ceilí’ presented by Corn Mill Theatre Group (Open)
Tonight’s production is ‘The Devil’s Ceilí’, written by Philip Doherty and Kevin Mc Gahern, presented by the Corn Mill Theatre Group. A cast and crew of nearly 30 people are involved in this play, in which the devil appears in a ceilí house somewhere in Cavan in the 1960s. Please Note: This show is not suitable for young children. Strobe lighting is used.
Tonight: Butt Drama Circle present ‘Parlour Song’ (Open)
Tonight’s production is ‘Parlour Song’ by the Butt Drama Circle, Ballybofey, and is described as a blackly hilarious exploration of deceit, paranoia and murderous desire, as the spirit of the Blues lands in leafy suburbia. Demolition expert Ned lives in a nice new house on a nice new estate on the edge of the English countryside. He loves his job, barbecues, car-boot sales, fitness programmes. Outwardly his life is entirely unremarkable. Not unlike his friend and neighbour Dale. So why has he not slept a wink in six months? Why is he so terrified of his attractive wife Joy? And why is it every time he leaves on business, something else goes missing. Is his mind playing tricks on him, or is the ground really shifting beneath his feet? PLEASE NOTE: This production contains mature/adult content.

Phoenix Players, Tubbercurry present ‘The Wood of the Whispering’ (Confined)
Tonight’s production is ‘The Wood of The Whispering’ by the Phoenix Players of Tubercurry. The loss of traditional rural values in the West of Ireland is central to this play. Emigration has led to a decline in marriage and children. Those left there totter in to old age. But Sanbatch Daly, a descendant of the derelict Big House is determined to reverse the problem of rural decline. Curtain at 8.15.
