Ballyshannon Shatter Myth in Athlone

Report on Dr. Russell Boyce’s adjudication taken from dramafestival.ie: There’s a myth that Neil Simon’s plays don’t work on this side of the Atlantic. But All Ireland Drama Festival adjudicator Russell Boyce said it was nice to see how Ballyshannon Drama Society’s production of “The Gingerbread Lady” shattered that myth. ‘The Gingerbread Lady’ on John Murray & Nationwide, Wednesday 29th April

Tune into the John Murray Show on RTÉ Radio 1 tomorrow morning at 9 to hear an interview with director Ann Mc Hugh and a profile of the cast and crew of ‘The Gingerbread Lady’ and the Ballyshannon Drama Society. John Murray is the RTÉ Mentor to Ballyshannon Drama as they prepare for their performance in the All-Ireland Final in Athlone on Friday night. If that’s not enough ‘Gingerbread’ for you, check out Nationwide at 7pm on RTÉ 1 tomorrow (Wed April 29th) for  a special feature on ‘The Gingerbread Lady’. The Nationwide team visited Ballyshannon recently to attend a meeting of the drama society and a rehearsal of the play.

‘The Gingerbread Lady’ Gala Evening

The final performance of ‘The Gingerbread Lady’ in Ballyshannon on Wednesday April 30th will be a special gala evening to raise funds for the production. There will be a pre-show reception and buffet in the Abbey Centre at 7.30, sponsored by Ballyshannnon Town Council and The Sandhouse Hotel.  This is a fantastic opportunity for the community to show their support for the cast and crew of ‘The Gingerbread Lady’ prior to their performance in the RTÉ  All Ireland Final two nights later. Tickets cost €20 and are available from the Abbey Centre box office. The show will begin at 8.30.
